A quote over the phone is a range. A quote after we've looked at the door, the track, and the opener is a number you can hold us to. The gap between those two is almost always the condition of things you can't see from the driveway - rust inside the torsion tube, a cracked bottom bracket, wiring a previous owner rerouted.
We price work for houses and the service areas around them, from close in at César Chávez and Doolittle out to Alamo, Weslaco, Palmview, and Indian Hills. Distance from our shop at 500 W Trenton Rd doesn't change the price of the part - it can change the trip charge on a same-day call, so ask when you book.
What changes a quote the most: door size (single vs. double), spring type (torsion vs. extension), whether the opener is original to the door or was swapped at some point, and whether the track is bent or just worn. Heat is a factor too - summers here are hard on plastic rollers and nylon gears, so a door that's 12 years old with the original rollers is a different repair than one that's been serviced.
We don't invent a price to get you off the phone, and we don't inflate one to pad a trip charge. If we're not sure, we say we're not sure, and we schedule a look instead of a guess.
